NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Soles4Souls®, the international shoe charity, announced today a complete line-up of a-list celebrities who decided to take off their shoes for a good cause.  What began as a staff shoe drive internally at NBCUniversal 30 Rock studios for the charity's Japan relief efforts quickly caught on to stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Sir Elton John, sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, John Krasinski, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mariska Hargitay, Yoko Ono, the TODAY show cast, and many more. Jennifer Wilson, an NBCUniversal employee who helped initiate the celebrity shoe auction, said it was the kindness of organizations like Soles4Souls during Hurricane Katrina that drew her to help.

"I started this to help those that helped us." The celebrity shoe auction that will benefit Soles4Souls will include game shoes from Lamar Odom, The SNL Cast, Spike Lee, and signed game cleats from Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, C.C. Sabathia, Joe Girardi, and Robinson Cano, and will launch in coordination with Soles4Souls' 4th annual National Barefoot Week on the charity auction site CharityBuzz.com, beginning May 31st and extending until June 22nd.

LAS VEGAS, May 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Billboard Music Awards -- Six time Grammy Award winning singer Fergie raised the bar in fashion statements this evening (Sunday 22nd May) at the Billboard Music Awards, sporting a dynamic luminous dress while performing with The Black Eyed Peas, designed by Philips Lighting in collaboration with Stylist B. Akerlund.

The 'little black dress' was crafted using a figure-hugging fabric integrated with lighting to shape the singer's curves and move with the music - giving the performance that the singer's fans have come to expect. Showcasing a fusion of fashion, music, lighting and technology, the Philips design team worked alongside B. Akerlund, the industry's leading Stylist/Costume Designer, to construct the dress.
Speaking about the creation, Rogier van der Heide, Chief Design Officer for Philips said: "As a brand, we seek out to work with artists from a range of different industries to evolve and revolutionise the way we use light. When Fergie challenged us to create something new for her, we wanted to design something that could bring an additional dimension to their audience and help showcase how light can further enhance experiences. What is remarkable with this dress is the way the lighting is integrated with the fabric and works in tandem with the beat of the music."
Rogier continues: "For us, creating this dress was not only about the aesthetics, it is about viewer experience and impact - enhancing the artist's performance through application of lighting."
